Magtor thanks Mark Vender for his article exploring the Magtor linear motor technology and investigating its potential to dramatically reduce HVAC&R as a drop-in replacement for traditional, rotary-based compressors.

Magtor presents its technology at COP26

1st November 2021

Magtor is delighted to announce that it has been selected to present its ultra-high efficiency linear electric motor technology at this year’s COP26 in Glasgow.

It is one of 26 companies to pitch at the invitation-only online deal room run by Greenbackers, a venture capital company that puts innovative, sustainability-focused companies in front of impact investors.
Each of the 26 companies selected for Greenbackers’ 26 For COP 26 showcase will present their business plan and solutions on 9th November.

The programme will be hosted live from the Technology and Innovation Centre at Strathclyde University, an event that will be live-streamed from Glasgow during the COP26 conference.

Magtor is very proud to have been selected by the Solar Impulse Foundation, established by the Swiss explorer and environmentalist Bertrand Piccard, as one of the 1,000+ solutions to protect the environment in a profitable manner.

After a rigorous assessment process involving a review by external experts of the disruptive Magtor linear electric motor technology, which offers more efficient and environmentally friendly compressor and pumping applications, Magtor was declared, on 4th October, to have complied with all the selection criteria.

The Magtor linear driver was demonstrated to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12, and the experts were satisfied that the Magtor technology is credible, scalable, delivers incremental environmental benefits versus a mainstream alternative, and was economically beneficial, both from the perspective of the manufacturer and of the end-user.

Magtor features in Just Have a Think video on air-conditioning efficiency improvement

28th August 2021

The Magtor technology has featured in a video on the influential YouTube channel Just Have a Think. The Host, Dave Borlace, reviewed the existing air-conditioning technology, created by Willis Carrier in 1902, technology which has remained fundamentally unchanged for the last 120 years.

He examined the disruptive Magtor technology, which introduces a radical rethink on the most power-hungry element of an air-conditioning unit, the compressor, and explored the efficiency advances that will be brought by Magtor, with its 33% improvement, to the air-conditioning industry.

In the context of air-conditioning units currently consuming 20% of the world’s electricity, and with demand forecast to triple by 2050, he concludes that technological disruptors such as the Magtopressor are vital to the future of the world.
